Treadport the sequel

For project 2, we produced a game for something called the Treadport.  Its a super wide, super long treadmill that people with spinal injuries use in their rehabilitation to re-learn how to walk.  The initial game was a 1st person tower defense-ish game in which a hunter defends his harvested crops from an incoming invasion of hungry snipe.  We presented to Dr. Dale Hull from Neuroworx and they have decided to pick up the game.

Here is a trailer from the original prototype.

So as a team, we are going back to the drawing board to change the concept and try to make something that  will serve their needs.  In our initial meetings here are some the user stories we want to put in the game and why.

  • Directed walking...The game is open but we want paths so the patient can always be aware of how far and well they are walking relative to their previous experiences.
  • Snipe Hunting....We want a simplified version of our game in the new version
  • Walk and Collect....We want a collection mini game within the world because of the client's affection for another pitched prototype
  • Diagnosic tools.....Will be to perform a 6 minute walking test and a 10 meter test because that is an absolute pre-requisite of the project.
  • Open world exploration.....Its a 3d open world and we want the user to able to explore it and see what is there.
Its exciting to have one of our prototypes picked up and we are excited to develop some of these ideas and finish a real product.
